| Subject: A little background on Mr. Jonium Tue Aug 26, 2008 12:01 pm | |
Mr. Jonium(joe-nee-um) is an earthworm that lives by the tree in front of my house that the kids adopted as their very own. Since I have been involved in fantasy hockey I try to name the team associated with my children. The Stock Flock, Cara's Dream, Cj's 3, etc. Please call me Ray, I am 48 years old and I grew up and have lived in Queens NY(near LaGuardia airport) my whole life. I have 4 children and love my wife, hockey, music(Zappa, Rush, Black Sabbath, etc.), Charlize Theron, sex and German beer. Not necessarily in that order. In October 2005 I was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer where I had chemo prior to and post surgery. The surgery involved taking the lower lobe of my right lung out. Well, you can see I am still around and I still play softball, coach baseball and basketball and am very grateful each and every day from the moment I wake up in the morning. I am a laid back individual, but very competitive. I am one who is sarcastic from time to time and I have a dry sense of humor. From time to time I hope that I can write something about the league and its members. It's all in good fum and by no means intended to hurt anyone. So please do not take it personally. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Good Luck! Ray Good luck

Right on, Ray. Thanks for the post. Sounds like you have a great life with your lovely wife and lovely kids. I would assume you're a rangers fan? Once we get everyone paid up and the draft order organized, I'm going to start a thread so everyone can share a bit of information about themselves. Should be fun. Cheers, Matt

how can you call yourself a true Canadien if you are a NY Islanders fan? DISGRACEFUL! Yes I am a Rangers fan, but I also love the game of hockey. The problem with the Islanders was that they had Mike Milbury as their GM. He is the worst. Looking forward to the rivalry, Cubmaster. May the farce be with you!

alot of my buddies are philly fans(even tho they are canadian like me) -influenced by the broad street bully teams of the 70's at least I became an isles fan before they sipped from the holy grail in 1980 .I recall being extremely upset as a kid in grade 6 / 7 when the isles were beaten in the quarters in 1978 (leafs) and the semis in 1979 (nyr) no doubt the isles are a bit of a mess these days -they take a few positive steps in the respectability dept. then flush it down the drain in a matter of a season I

I just noticed your e-mail address and I guess Nystrom was your favorite player. My son Shane had his daughter as a teacher last year. Nice girl, but she has moved on. That and A token gets me on the subway.

I know Jean Potvin from the business now. Actually a few of us in this other league I am in get in touch with him from time to time. He has a lot of great stories. His brother was very good. I wonder what he would've been like if he played in this day and age where everyone goes through a rigorous training.
