Just looking at the concept again. I think it's important that player pickups are not prospect eligible. It would weaken the draft.

not sure what you mean? If the player is on ESPN then I think you should be able to draft him. no?

There are some players like Ryan Strome, that are listed on ESPN. They have never played a game in the NHL. Perhaps and exhibition game.

Later in the year, a player like Luke Adam, who was the AHL Rookie-of-the-Year, and played a few games in the NHL, could be swung into play as a prospect. A prospect is a player that has played 82 or fewer games in the NHL. When a player plays his 83rd game, he is no longer prospect eligible. Thus, if you draft a good kid, you know you have him for two years before having to declare him a keeper. It's a while since the NHL had a rookie record 60 points. RNH may be the first prospect in recent years to indisputably become 'Keeper' in the first year. It is very difficult to forecast when prospects can actually graduate to 'Keeper' status.

I see what you mean. I personally would be for the auction being for anyone on the ESPN site myself. But we should have a vote on this before sunday. And when we are going to make our last week. I would vote to end adding players a week before our playoffs start or somewhere in there.

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? I do expect all those near the bottom of the pool to bid for a prospect in the last week or two. Could be interesting, but Scoop has a point that it will affect septembers draft.

And any opinion on when we should have our last added player week?

Playoffs. Yes, there should be an ending period to the waiver pickup concept. End of the regular season. Two teams would be at an advantage to dump vets and go for possible enhancements to prospects.

We are wise to try and shut all the doors that could create an end to the idea. Later, when things have gone well, open the doors up inch-by-inch, where we think it will be safe for all members.

You do make some good points Scoop. I can see why there should be some restrictions on this process.

i think there should be no more waiver pick ups after our trade deadline? or maybe a week after the trade deadline?

also i don't really care what we decide in regards to picking up prospects.

I agree. Makes sense to me to have it end at same time as all other trading.

FAAB ending at the end of our regular season makes it practical and easy to remember.

As far as prospect status, I don't care either way.

I think they end on the same day anyway. feb 27th 3pm is the trade deadline, and our last week of regular season ends 20-26th. So the monday of the 27th at noon would be the end of the FAAB. Does this sound right?

Yes, the NHL trade deadline should always be around the end of our regular season unless we change the format. Or the Olympics are on that year. Or there is a players strike. Or Wizz comes to visit the big city. Or Brandon doesn't execute a trade for 6 months, etc. etc.

Wizz visits the city... that would be a movie! An epic movie! Wizz... Ernest goes... hmmm I best get writing my first book!

If you ever want to read some great stuff in this style, WP Kinsella. Yes, the guy that wrote Field of Dreams. He has two writing styles. Formal and about baseball. The other is informal, about a bunch of Indians on the Reserve, and their antics. There are two or three or four books. You laugh until you cry!

They love to pick on his brother-in-law:
- Leaving horses in your brother-in-laws basement.
- Stealing a boat, and leaving it on your brother-in-laws front lawn
- The brother-in-law didn't like to visit. One time when he visited, well... his wife got a son...
- They drag around a 400 pound Medicine Woman, in the back of their pickup truck, as a matter of fact.

I need to read these books again. Nothing like a good belly laugh!
