We seem to have had a couple violations of the bidding on rookie eligible players. Enroth has only played 35 games and has to play 42 before he can be bid on. And Ryan McDonagh has only played 79 and has to play 83 games.

For all the other players in the pool we use the games totals at the beginning of the year. Is this not the same? If it is an ever changing games played number, it takes a whole bunch of maintenance. I'm not so sure we want to get into all the maintenance. Thus a player like Skinner is still technically a prospect and may be held as a prospect until we re-organize again next year.

If Skinner has played more than 82 games by the end of 2012 then he will no longer be a prospect, which will probably be the case.
I think managing this in real time is by far the easiest, but that's my humble opinion. It doesn't take much for people to check HockeyDB.com before trying to pick up a player.

I agree with Matt. I think real time is easier... And I think it will make it a little more fun. In a few games both Dubnyk and McDonagh will be past their games. I wanted to bid on Mcdonagh too. So it should be interesting once he's played his 83rd game and we can all bid on him. Also, this was supposed to be a trial so that at the end of the year we can vote to see if we want to try it for a full season to replace the mid season draft next year. If we do vote yes to try a full season I think we will have to vote again on who we can add. But I don't think it would be a big deal to add prospects.... or maybe pick a number of games, say 10 that would make their first contract start. But then that's getting way ahead, have to see if we like it this time first.
