Hello and welcome,

first of all let me say how happy I am that you are here and that you are changing the name of your 'inherited' team. That was the first thing I had posted about way back when we were starting this baby up. I wish the best of luck and I would bring over a batch of chocolate chips cookies(baked by Charlize of course) but by the time I get over there, I would have eaten them all.

If there are any nicknames or labels you find would be offensive, please let me know, because it seems I have a track record here. Made someone cry and leave, upset another GM who got booted(not naming names now), etc. I always write with the intention of humor, and I might test the limits sometimes, but WTF, it's all in fun, so please do NOT take anything I write personally ezxcept if I compliment you, because then I mean it.

Anyway, welcome but I have to get back, Charlize is calling my name from the bedroom...

Welcome to the league Joel although i had little to no dealings with the previous manager of your team listening to the other gms and seeing some of the stuff that went on im sure your going to be a real breath of fresh air. So goodluck but not to much goodluck when you play me.

Well that's a good sign. Great league activity!

And just so everyone is well warned, the Oiler fan population has just doubled as I am a die hard in that regards (drove 7 hours to attend the home opener this year!). The flip side is I tend to UNDERRATE Oiler players as I have had my heartbroken too many times in the past 15 years, so while I don't mind acquiring Oiler players, I don't give stupid good value like some crazies do

I think you'll find that I am pretty laid back though. I work full time with high school students and so I've learned to get a thick skin!

I've just given the Manifesto yet another good reading and then I'm going to take a good look at my team and see if there are some moves I can make. Some of you might be seeing some messages come your way soon!

Oh and how do I go about changing my team info?

Hey Joel,

If you're trying to change settings on ESPN, click on the "My Team" tab at the top, and then "Edit team Settings."

I believe most of the changes you see on this forum would be made by clicking on the "Profile" tab at the top. To put a picture up, click on the "avatar" link.

Looks like I got it figured out. The new team name is Small Town Dynasty - or STDY for short (since STD didn't sit well with me)

Nice to have another Oil fan on the boards. Good luck to you though I think that 0-3 start is a bit misleading given the quality of players on your new team. So which particular place 7 hours outside of Edmonton do you call home?

I currently live in Dawson Creek, BC. Only just barely in BC though, so I still consider myself an Albertan...hah.

Before that I was living in enemy territory in Calgary for about 10 years. I grew up in a small town called Thorsby, not far from Edmonton.

Quick question:

How do I find out information on stats about players - how they rank this year, available Free Agents, how certain players performed last year according to this scoring setup etc? I am sure there is a really obvious way that I am missing.

Hmmmm ... it seems the 2008 totals have vanaished from the "Player Rater" tab, which is found under the "Players" menu on ESPN.

Any idea how Joel can find 2008 totals Greg?

I see the 2008 players tab

I think that's only under the free agents section. It doesn't come up for me when I click on the "Player Rater" tab.

Can you see the 2008 fantasy points total under the "Player Rater" tab Jay?

Hmm so I found it by clicking on Player Projections and then clicking on some tabs in there.

player rated? You mean drafted?

Interesting. I tried clicking on "projections" and still can't find it. All I can find there is projections for 2009, based on how ESPN ranks players.

Player Projections
The click on the Free Agents tab.
Then you can click All under the Filter and you'll be able to check out every player in the league under a variety of different settings (including 2008 point totals)
