Another Big Trade

Well, the league is in wheeling and dealing mode, and I am pleased to announce that Fitzsy Stars and The Omnipresence have made a trade. Again, since ESPN is down I will post the details here to make it official and we will do the trade once ESPN comes back online.

Fitzsy Stars gets:

Thomas Vanek (LW) - Buffalo Sabres
16th overall pick Sept 2009

The Omnipresence gets:

Daniel Briere (C) - Philidelphia Flyers
Brad Boyes (RW) - St. Louis Blues
Niklas Kronwall (D) - Detroit Red Wings
3rd overall pick Sept 2009

Twas an amusing pleasure doing business with you as well Matt. I drove a pretty hard bargain and think I mainly benefited from the fact that you had so few keeper slots. Vanek however will pretty awesome for you and I had a hard time letting you have another young player with such a high upside (your team is kind of stacked).

All that said I am happy to welcome my new players into the fold and hope that this is not the last of my deals.

Yes, I think this is an example of what the league was designed to do. On paper you won this trade by a LONG shot. But the cascading feature was supposed to help keep things competitive. The fact that I have so few keeper slots means I have to move some of those valuable players or risk losing them for nothing.

Nevertheless, I am very pleased with Vanek and expect to have a lot of fun with him. Well, not exactly WITH him. Watching him play I mean....
