Mid Season Draft

Well, Matt and I thought that we should get things firmed up for the Mid Season draft. Last year we fixed the draft order after the week of the 16th and began the draft on the 31st of December if memory serves. It was a slow draft format.

I recommend that we fix the draft order following match up 12 (Dec 14th - 20th) and begin the draft when it suits the league.

Shall we get cracking on choosing a start date for the slow draft? Should we get crazy and consider a ''live'' draft format?

I'd prefer a slow draft over a live draft at that time of year if at all possible. Its just crazy time for me.

Do we still have to drop players before the draft begins?

i vote slow draft. im good for the date suggested.

also scoop, you can only have 33 players after the draft. if you have 29 right now and have 5 picks for example, you will need to drop 2 players if you want to use all 5 picks.

I am in favor of a slow draft as well. If you need more than 5 rounds to reach the 33 maximum, what happens then?

I vote for a slow draft. And I vote for it to start on the 27th.

I can't start the draft until at least the evening of the 30th, as I will be visiting family in Ontario and some of them don't have Internet access (crazy, eh?)

It's only five rounds, so if we all kind of logged on around the same time we could probably just get the thing done in an hour or so. Far easier IMO. But if everyone wants slow draft, then I suppose we can spread it out over a couple of days.

As for the rules, here they are in succinct format:

1) After the mid-season draft you can only have 33 players on your team (including farm). If you currently have 29 players and have five picks then you won't be able to use your last pick, as four picks would bring you up to the maximum of 33.

If you currently have 29 players and only three draft picks, then you will end up with 32 players by the end of the draft, or you can trade for an extra pick before or during the draft.

2) Players chosen in the draft can be added to rosters only after the entire draft has been completed.

3) Draft order will be determined after week twelve (sounds like everyone is in agreement), and will be a snake format.

I think that is about everything.

If everyone is fired up we could still begin on the 27th as Jay has suggested keeping in mind that Matt will join us on the evening of the 30th.

It is a busy time for everyone so perhaps some patience might be necessary.

i know i have to go to chapleau during the winter for work a few times, but i doubt that it will interfere with the draft. besides new years eve night i will be good to go anytime.

slow draft is good for me as well

....so are we starting on the 27th knowing that matt will be joining us on the 30th?

when there is a 3 way tie do we go by total points?

for example w/ matt greg and jay they are all tied.


matt has beat greg twice and lost to jay

greg has beat jay but lost to matt twice

jay beat matt and lost to greg

espn has the standings by total points i think. do we use the same method to determine seeding once it is no longer a 2 way tie?

When there is a tie we go directly to head to head record. Should that be tied then it is total points during the head to head match ups that determine the winner.

greg look at the example above, that resolution does not work with this particular 3 way tie.
