Twas the night before Christmas and all through the league, Not a winger was scoring, not even Versteeg. Stockey was enjoying his stay near the top, In hope that Soo Storm and Omni would stop.
The others were nestled in the middle instead, While visions of first place danced in their heads. And Greg in pajamas and I in my cap Had just settled in to watch Vandelay nap.
When out on hockeybuzz there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my recliner to see what was the matter. Away to my TV I flew like a flash, To see it was Semin who laid there from a crash.
Brodeur stepping on the new sheet of ice, Gave the crowd a wave as he chased another record, how nice! When to my wondering remote should appear, Not one NHL game, but twelve, oh dear!
With little old Kovalev, just not quite the same, I knew in a moment, Vandelay was lame. More rapid than Kane his coursers they came, And Fitzsy Stars shouted and called them by name!
Down Omni!, down, Brandon! down Razor and Scoop! Off, Motley! Off Giga! Off, Stainer and Chapler! To the top of the standings! To the top of them all! Now dash away!, Dash away! Dash away all!
As dry eyes that before the Hurricanes played When Staal meets with an obstacle, seems to be slayed. So down to the infirmary, the injured they go. With the sleigh full of bandages, and neck braces too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the news, the gossip of returning Hossa, Markov and Bobbie Lou. As i flipped the channel to Versus that night Down went Ovechkin, but just for one night.
He was dressed in his uni, from head to his feet, And his jersey was tarnished with blood from Mark Streit. A bundle of sticks he had flung on his back And he looked like Sidney Crosby, 'cept for his scoring knack.
Malkin eyes they twinkled! His dimples how merry! His cheeks were all rosey, his nose like Don Cherry's! His droll little mouth was drawn like a bow And his shot hit the twine, right through the five-hole.
The clang of the pipe rang through the rink, And the noise sounded so perfect, I think. Stockey had a broad face and a round little belly. It shook when he laughed, like a bowl of lime jelly.
Joel seemed in despair, not his jolly old self, But I knew his team would be back, it's top shelf! A wink of an eye, and a twist of a head, Soon all this scoring made me feel dread.
Scoop spoke not a word, went straight to his work, And filled his defense up, but might need more work. Greg shuffling his team up to wake, Might have done it just a little too late.
And don't forget Keegan, so young and naive, Still in the hunt on this, Christmas Eve! As I settle in with two hockeyless nights, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night"

Yes, this is just AWESOME! I am a HUGE fan of cheesy poetry ... I always write a few rhyming lines for my sweetie on Valentine's day, and she still loves it (go figure!)

Thema: Christmas Poem 2011 23.12.11 16:44
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the league, not a creature was stirring, not Richard or Christine. Their teams were hung by the commissioners with care, In hopes that some new owners soon would be there; The managers were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of championships danced in their heads; And Gregger in his kerchief, and Matt in his cap, had just settled down on Gordo and Scott, When out on the forum there arose such a clatter, Brandon sprang from his bed to see if there was a trade.
Away to the message board, he flew like a flash, And offered the twins to Scoop for Rick Nash. The wool over the eyes of the newfound members, gave the lustre of a deal to all who follow. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, Chris Catrini and his 8 highly touted prospects. With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it was a tradenik. More rapid than Crosby his coursers they came, And he swore and shouted, and called them by name; Now Ryan! now, Spezza! now Larsson! and Kessel! On, Taylor! on Jordan! on, Alex and Kevin! To the top of the standings! to the top of the wall! Now dash away, dash away! but not Taylor Hall!
As dry heaves that before the Hurricanes lose, When they meet with a tough goalie, could be a Blue. So up to the top of the circle, they let fly, with the net full of pucks, and Mike Smith too.
and then, in a twinkling I heard on "the Fly" the trading and swapping of Tomas Kaberle As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Don Cherry spoke of something most profound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his toes, And his suit was adorned in sparkles and glows. a bundle of pucks he had flung on his back, and he looked like an elf, just running his mouth. His eyes how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, because he's Don Cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn like a bow, and the beard of his chin was as white as the ice. the stump of a stick he held in his teeth, and he blabbered the name of Duncan Keith; Juggs had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook, when he laughed because he just traded Chris Kelly. Jarrett was quiet and cool, a right jolly old self and I laughed when i traded with him, in spite of myself. A wink of Scott's eye and a twist of his head, soon gave me reason to dread He spoke not a word, but went straight to his roster, and filled Brandon's team with guys like Kurtis Foster.
And laying his finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod, up the standings he rose; Greg sprang to his feet, to his team gave a shout, and away they all went with Carey Price's shutout. but I heard him exclaim, before he crashed for the night. "I'm in first place, and you're not! Good Night!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Nash for the Sedin's... I don't know... well, it is Christmas, so in the spirit of giving I would go along with it! I wouldn't want to spoil Razor's poem!
Best of the season to you and yours Ray! It's nice not being the only loony old bugger!
