BeitragThema: Radulov and Pominville   Radulov and Pominville Empty18.09.10 4:49

Hello Everyone,

Since Mike left the league with VERY short notice it had Greg and I scrambling around trying to find another GM at the last minute, and we ended up making some snap decisions that we wouldn't have made so quickly and unilaterally otherwise.

One of those decisions was to allow Jarrett to drop Alexander Radulov and to pick up Jason Pominville in his place, even though the keeper-drop deadline was last week. I understand why Greg let him do this, but I have been approached by a couple of GMs who questioned this move. In the spirit of keeping this league on fair and even footing, I have reversed this transaction and once again put Radulov on Jarrett's roster and taken Pominville off. I think this is the only fair thing to do, because I sure as shootin' don't want anybody coming back at the end of this year and saying Pominville was the difference maker in winning a title or not.

Sorry Jarrett, but in a situation like this we really need 100% agreement from all GMs to allow a bending of the rules.

Cheers,
Matt

Hello everyone,

First of all I want to welcome Jarrett and wish him much success in joining our little fraternity.

Second, I want to congratulate Greg and Matt on making a quick and tough decision to keep this league rolling along smoothly. Great job as always.

Thirdly, I just want to say that I was one of the GMs to question the roster changes only because it wasn't
announced to the league and I just happened to travel to the ESPN website and noticed there were some new transactions listed. I know we have the rules set up so that everyone is playing on an even playing surface and without rules it would be chaos and unenjoyable for everyone. So I asked Matt why were they made.

So, that is all I did was question the moves and the decision to reverse them was the right thing to do in regards to league rules. Now, being that Mike left these guys scrambling for a replacement and also Mike not being in the right frame of mind to make rational decisions regarding his keeper roster, I will state for the record that I am not opposed to this move, Pominville for Radulov, because any sane GM (I guess that excludes Greg) would have kept Pominville over Radulov.

So, if anyone agrees or disagrees with me in part or in full, state your opinion below.

Nothing like majing things interesting the morning of the draft.

I'm pumped, especially after seeing Greg in all his glory. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrowl!

thanks everyone for the welcome, i know it was last minute and you guys have all been great so far.
But when it comes to this keeping Radulov for Pominville, everyone must agree that keeping Radulov in the first place was insane. To force me to have to keep a player who has zero chance of playing in the NHL this year is pretty crazy. I think due to that fact that i was a last minute replacement, really didnt have any time to do anything. Letting me at least make one move before the draft isn't going to make or break a whole season.
If anybody has a problem with Pominville i was willing to also take Matt Lombardi or Ryan Smyth if that helps. Or if you guys prefer how about just dropping Radulov and giving me an extra draft spot later on??
Either way i'm in this for the long run, excited for todays draft you guys make the decision and just let me know.

i think its pretty unfair to have him keep a player in the khl. at worst let him drop him and have another pick.

jarrett helped us out with a last minute replacement and IMO he should be able to switch Radulov, its a no brainer. if we were looking for a replacement for mike i don't think anyone would expect that we would force the new guy to keep a player that is in the KHL when the last owner dropped many NHLers from their team just a few days ago.

by the way i would say this for any new owner not just because its a friend.

I agree. He should be able to keep pominville. It's not jarret's fault that he had one day to prep. And on top of that his keepers are already selected kinda sucks too. The fact the radulov was kept over pomonville was an odd move but one that mike is allowed to make but jarett keep a khl player isn't fair. He isn't asking for ancomplete keeper overhaul but one player who should have been kept

Alright, it seems that the subject has been dealt with, so I guess we can reverse the transaction again. I was the other GM who wasn't sure about the switch because I know how championships in H2H can turn on a dime -- and Pominville may literally be the difference maker.

I initially wasn't going to say anything, but when Ray brought the issue up I decided that it would probably be best to reverse the transaction. Just keeps the slate clean for everyone from the beginning of the season. Nobody is questioning anything.

However, seems like most everyone supports it, so I will go ahead and make the change again. The one caveat I will add here is that if Scoop or Richard have a problem with it we would have to reverse the transaction again. I don't think they will. But just in case they do, what we'll do is allow you to drop Radulov and pick an extra player at the end of the draft. That way you would get somebody who is at least playing in the NHL this year.

The other caveat is that they would need to make their decision before the draft starts.

Cheers,
Matt

Yes, he has Pominville. In the end nobody had a problem with it, so we decided to let it go through. There's no reason he should be stuck with a player who isn't even playing in the NHL this year. I haven't heard yet from Richard on the subject, but I'm guessing he will also be fine with it.
