Hello Everyone,
This message was passed on to me by Christine, who is Richard's girlfriend:
"This is Christine, Richards girlfriend, he has asked me to let you know about our current situation. Richard was assaulted last night on his way to the grocery store by a group of men. He is in the hospital and the docotrs say he will fully recover but will not be released for a few days he took significant damage to his head and has at the very least a concussion, when the swelling comes down they will take xrays to insure there are no broken bones in his face. He asked me to ask you to relay the message to the your league that he will not be around for the next little. I will keep you updated if he ends up spending more time in the hospital than was previously anticipated."
I will be passing through Saskatoon on my book tour in a couple of weeks. I'm going to try and visit Richard, and would be willing to take get-well messages along from everyone. I will need to get them by tomorrow morning, however, or I won't be able to print them off.
Thanks, Matt

I have taken the last couple of hours to comb through our Manifesto and I have found something that I believe is relevant here. It is as follows:
''Should a GM be injured, on his way to the grocery store, in any way shape or form to such an extent that hospitalization is required, then he shall by order and statute 1.12A of said Manifesto, be eligible to choose one player from the GM who has up to said point in time accumulated the most total points.''
So, I double checked the standings and that would mean that Richard would be eligible to choose one player from Matt's roster. I cannot really remember putting this caveat in our Manifesto but there it is in black and white. So, as awful as this situation is for Richard, he will be comforted in the fact that he will come out of this mess with at the very least an A-Hole.
Sorry Matt. Rules are Rules.

PS Richard, once again, a speedy recovery my good friend. We miss you on the forum!

I thought we'd changed that rule to say that the injured GM could choose one player from the commissioner's team with the lowest win ratio compared to the other commissioner's team. I know we're neck-and-neck Greg, but my nine wins to your zero wins seems to indicate it will be you who should cough up a player.

Get well soon Richard. Don't let a few jackasses change anything about you. I remember one of my friends had a similar run in a few years back. If you would like to talk to him I can give you his email address.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the kind comments, i just wanted to let everyone i'm back and feeling better, i do have a concussion so im not a hundred percent, bright lights loud noises still bother me to the point of nausea but doc said its just a matter of time for that to go away. I thought i should let you guys know exactly what happened.
I was running to the little corner grocery store near our place around 8:30 to pick up a few things(i knew i should have drove) and i saw 3 guys walking towards me i thought nothing of it. I stepped off the sidewalk to get out of the way and the one guy asked if he could borrow 5 bucks i laughed and kept walking. I guess this infuriated them because the insults and bullshit started from there, i just kept walking when wham one of the guys ran up behind me and hit from behind in the head with i can only assume was a pipe cause i have been hit before and never felt anything like that I went down not really knowing what happened and wham one of them kicked? me in the head and i was out. When i woke up they were gone and so was my money(40 bucks) good thing i didnt take my wallet.
I have two large bumps on one the back of my head and the other above my eye, no broken bones thank god, we had to wait for the swelling to come done before they could be sure that there were no broken bones. Other than that I'm fine and should be good within a week or so, I have had concussions in the past from sports so they held me for observation they gave me the all clear to go home today so im back and glad to be home.
The police say very little can be done as i really wasnt able to give descriptions because like i said i just walked past not really paying any attention, who thinks crap like this happens a block and half from home and takes mental notes of everyone they pass and to be honest we have a fair amount of people in my neighbourhood asking for money it gets so tiresome they just blend together.
Anyways thats what happened and thanks again for the concern but i'm off to bed still pretty tired doesnt take much to wear me down. I will be back on tomorrow. Goodnight all.

Wow, that is terrible but I am glad to see you are alright and it is good to hear from you. I once was attacked and had my jaw broken in 2 places. The jaw flapping in my mouth, blood everywhere. Like you, they knocked me out from behind and kicked me in my face and body. Luckily for me, they were caught right away. But I am glad you are fine. Take care of yourself. If you need anything, just ask.

Hey Richard,
Glad to see you are up and around already, and that this wasn't more serious. I do believe that what goes around comes around, so these guys will get what they deserve eventually.
Keep on the mend my friend.
Cheers, Matt

SCOOP 'n RED
and Wizz & Co.
All wish you a happy, speedy recovery.
SEX is the best remedy. Gobs, scads, volumes, enormous quantities of SEX will put you on the road to a speedy recovery.
Cite government studies when releasing this information at home. To the effect of "Sex assists the body in the releasing of endorphins by the brain, which in turn assists the immune system, thereby enhancing the rapidity of the overall healing process."
Now, of course, Wizz explained this to me. Thus, I suspect the initial reports have been twisted greatly to the advantage of the story teller. Correct or incorrect, handled carefully, it makes a compelling argument, when initiated with "Do you care?" I've found that the effectiveness wears off very quickly. (sometimes less than one successful implementation of the story).

LOL. Hilarious Scoop.
Having said that, I feel like I might have a mild concussion myself. I'll have to let my wife know.

No more situations please. First there was Jarrett's Shoreside Situation, and then Richard's. That's enough for one season, thank you very much.
