Actually, you are supposed to be facing my team. You're team is eight seeded, and will face the winner of the fourth/fifth seed match-up -- which is the Fitzsy Stars.

Well, you would have beat both of us last week, so not sure it will be us that slaps your team around. But I do hope so.

I thought it was by seeds also, highest remaining versus lowest remaining. ANd then the two middle seeded leftover facing each other.

Nope. We have to pre-set the playoff seeding in the first round, as you can see when you go through to the playoff bracket page on ESPN. It was therefore pre-set that I would meet whatever team won between John and Brandon.

can we vote on this in the offseason matt? i think that the highest seed should play the lowest seed in each round.

I mean theoretically it should mean less upsets, but if we were to end the schedule right now it would mean a Soo Storm win, and thus an upset.

Seems to make very little difference either way, and at least with a preset playoff schedule you know which of 2 teams you will play if you win well ahead of time.

i feel if you finish first you deserve the easiest way to the finals and imo should face the lowest seed. it hasn't come into play in the previous two years but has this year and i don't care, but if i were a higher seed (ie jay) i would want to face the lowest seed. if the nhl does it why not us?

either way i don't care just letting you know what way i would vote if this is looked at.

looks like we already had this in place from the start;

Playoffs: At the end of the season the top eight teams enter the playoffs. In the first round, the team seeded first faces the team seeded eighth, the team seeded second faces the team seeded seventh, the team seeded third faces the team seeded sixth, and the team seeded fourth faces the team seeded fifth. The first round lasts two weeks with roster changes being allowed at the midway point.

The second round features the top surviving seeded team (determined from regular season standings) pitted against the lowest surviving seeded team, and the two teams seeded in the middle play each other. Again, it lasts two weeks and roster changes are allowed at the midway point.

The third and final round pits the two surviving teams against each other for the last two weeks of the NHL regular season. Again, roster changes are allowed at the midway point.

Well that is a very good find Brandon.

Very difficult to argue that since it is from our Manifesto.

Seems to me that Jay should be matched up against Brandon and Matt should be matched up against Joel.

I did a little exploring within ESPN and it is possible (even easy) to change the match ups each round so that the correct seeds are facing each other.

Should anyone have a valid reason that we should leave the match ups as they initially were I am all ears. I have, nevertheless, corrected the matchups so that:

1.21 face Soo Storm
Fitzsy Stars face Sinkhole
Juggernauts face Desolation Row
BCC face Tigers
Crue face Situations.

As per our Manifesto this seems correct. Great find Brandon.

I had thought that was the case in terms of the seedings. Good find Brandon. It's a good idea to look over the Manifesto every now and then I guess.

thanks greg, as one of the four teams remaining i really don't care how we finished off this year as long as we looked at it in the offseason. i didn't know you could change matchups so its good we can have it follow the manifesto. only arguing point would be that the matchup were already underway.

wouldn't it be funny if i put up more points than matt this rd and less than jay and ultimately cost myself a trip to the finals lol

I could care less either way. I just thought that once the playoff seedings were set that they couldn't be changed.

So ... since they are changeable and the manifesto backs up Brandon's claim, then I guess we will switch.

I just reread the Manifesto and there was another relevant passage that I discovered:

''Should Desolation Row be upset in either Round 1 or Round 2, he will nevertheless advance to Round 3 where he shall be afforded the small luxury of a 100 point head start.''

Strange. I don't remember putting that in the Manifesto.
