Prospect Game Maximum Poll

I thought since Matt is going away soon I would take the initiative and create a poll so we can determine one change that everyone thus far seems to want. also it is the easiest to decide unlinke the payout structure and all the options that come with it.

please put what you voted for with a msg and if you select other include details. of course this isn't official because matt and greg have last say. i just thought we could get one decision out of the way fairly quickly.

i voted 50 game maximum starting next year, for the reasons mentioned in the previous thread about difficulties starting it this summer. (i.e. it goes against strategies that teams have used for the last year and it works in favour of some teams and not others and doesn't seem fair since we didn't know about it at the start of the year)

I voted 50 games starting next year. I think that is a reasonable compromise.

Looks like the only guy who hasn't voted is Mike. He is MIA again. Regardless, we have six votes in favour of changing the prospect keeper game count to 50 games, starting next season. So that's as good as done.

We can always keep an eye on this issue and readjust again at some point in the future.

By starting next season, does this mean we have to still decide what happens with our current prospects over 25 games? Or are they safe now?

For this summer and going into Fall 2009 your players are prospect eligible if they've played 25 games or less.

Starting next summer and moving into Fall 2010 your players are prospect eligible if they've played 50 games or less.

If people want to, we can re-examine this issue again next summer.

What about goalie prospects? I have seen other leagues where there were different max games for goalies and skaters? It will be a hell of a long time before a young goalie hits 50 games vs a young skater no? I am new at this fantasy hockey business so I am not 100% sure

I don't want to complicate things at all, but it just hit me that we could should would might want to address this.

Just answer in this thread, and we should get a pretty good indication as to whether people what goalies to have a lower minimum than skaters. I don't really care myself.

Yep, I was actually about to make a change in my league about this very thing as well. 25-35 games should be a good amount

I would prefer boosting the goalie number along with the skater number to 50, but that might just be me. 50 games gives you a good idea of where a goaltender is going whereas 25 doesn't really (as far as I am concerned anyways).

Seems like most people want a lower number for goalies, so my suggestion would be 30 games. Does that strike a reasonable balance for everyone?
