Hello fellas. I think that we need to discuss our Trade/FAAB Deadline before there are any potential tensions. We modified it last season such that our deadline would fall three weeks prior to the start of our playoffs. Things are muddied somewhat with the Olympics however.

Thoughts?

How about the end of the Olympics? Our playoffs start right after, so that would be appropriate.

OK by me. Just so that we have a fixed date so that there is no confusion.

Yah, last year, I did some waiver pickups, and then learned it was illegal, so I played without guys in my lineup in the playoffs. It didn't affect the end results. I should have known the dates. I should have known better. Not sure if we can shut off the pickups so this can't happen again. It would be a good plan.

1st game back is Tuesday, February 25th, so trading should be completed by Sunday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm or around that time.

Sure, as long as we have at least two or three days before the start of our playoffs.

I don't know, I would say it should have been over by now... but waiting till just before playoffs doesn't make sense to me. I would vote for this sunday if we are still trading.

yeah, I know it crept up on us, but I think the point of having the trade deadline 3 weeks before playoffs was to prevent people from dumping their team once they know they aren't going to make the playoffs to the guys making the playoffs. I understand the olympics screwed us up but I would say send out a memo to have all trades in by this saturday or sunday.

The Manifesto does say that the trading deadline is three weeks before the start of our playoffs which would be this Sunday, February 2nd.

I'm good with whatever. Let's pick a date.

There wasn't any mention about a deadline in the Manifesto for the FAAB

Is there a trading period, after we're done, and before the next season? Somehow this trade deadline always feels way too soon.

You can still trade but they don't take effect until after the playoffs are done. You just don't post them on ESPN

For example, Ray has already offered to trade Zach Parise, Alex Galchenyuk and Jonathan Drouin to me in exchange for Jack Johnson and Alex Edler, but we're not going to post that on the forum until after the playoffs.

These boys are having a bit of a tough year, but we can expect to see almost PPG from both Johnson and Edler by as early as next year.

Are there side cash bets? I'll sleep on it, but I might like in.

I was crazy to have traded Edler away in the first place and I have finally come to my senses. JJ is just a throw-in, or should I say throwaway. LOL

I would like to say "Throw him to the sharks," but JJ has actually been a little bit better of late. At least he doesn't instill an instinctive vomit reflex at the moment. Of course, Edler might have taken his place in that regard, particularly when you consider Edler was a key component in the trade that sent Steve Mason to you and effectively handed you the regular season title.  

But, don't forget, you also received "Little" Joe Pavelski in the deal, so it wasn't like I robbed you. If you recall, I helped you win the first season by trading you Alex Kovalev. And don't think I don't appreciate it.

LOL. Just giving you a hard time my friend. I actually am glad the trade worked out for you, because you had the guts to trade away two good players to fill a need. Well, one good player and a dud. But at the time who would have thought Edler would be running for Monkey of the Year award? And yes, Little Joe has been an important part of my team.

I know. Edler just dropped off the face of the Earth. Sorry about that.
