anyone else want to go back to the classic mid season 3 rd draft and not have FAAB at beginning of season? I think this change has resulted in less trading and possibly even activity. I miss it!
also would like to see if anyone else wants to switch to a live espn draft for the September draft. last year we had like 3 picks in the first 3 days. can be really painful when we are having over 10 rounds.
good luck in final week!

I would rather keep it the way it is now, meaning no mid-season draft and FAAB throughout the regular season.
Doing some research as to the number of trades per time period, I came up with these results;
The only outlier is Sep'15 with 5 trades compared to results usually in the mid-teens.

LIVE DRAFT
I like the idea of a live draft in September, but first of all it's hard to lock down everyone for a specific date and time. A live draft is beneficial to those who are prepared, , as opposed to those who can take their time and take minutes or even hours to make a selection. I'm not frowning on the slow draft, and I don't mind it, but if we could do a live draft, I'm all for it. But I know the difficulties of scheduling a group.

Thanks for punching those numbers, Ray!
FAAB has actually grown on me, so I'd probably vote to keep it because it allows us to round out our rosters after one week rather than waiting until the December/January draft. In previous seasons, I seemed to always get caught with an injured player or two and then be stuck for more than half the season without enough players. FAAB takes care of that.
Having said that, if we can figure out a way to do an initial swap in week one or two of the season (to protect against training camp injuries), then I'd be up for a return to the mid-season draft and then FAAB for a few weeks afterwards.
As for this year's slow draft, I think the problem was we set a date and then decided at the spur of the moment to start the draft five days early. It caught Chris unawares, because it was September 11th in the USA and he was commemorating the event with his family.
I love live drafts and would be fine with trying it, but it really depends if it's a hardship for others and can be difficult finding a date and time that works for everyone.
I suspect a slow draft would work better if we decided on a date to start and then started on that date, rather than jumping the gun by a few days.

What I have done with some of our early drafts before we implemented the FAAB was to have a sort of Amnesty the weekend before the start of the regular season where teams would have a chance to add/drop players on a first-come, first-serve basis for a period of say Friday 6:00 pm to Sunday 9:00 pm and limiting it to no more than 3 moves, to accommodate injuries, poor draft selections (like who has those..lol) or maybe a player was overlooked.
But something like that could be an option.

Yes, that would also work. Doesn't matter too much how we do it, as long as we don't revert to that problem.

And yes, who ever makes a poor draft selection?

I think the draft has gone really well the way we've been doing it.
FAAB - I've enjoyed the FAAB.

Only issue I have with FAAB is it allows you to change a few of your picks after the draft.
Almost like a chance to correct a few mistakes you might've made.
I like idea of whatever draft you deal with, puts a little More emphasis on the draft. You better do your homework

I understand what you're saying, Jarrett, and I once thought that way, too. It was the unknown injuries that got to me after a while. Can't really plan for those.

Having FAAB all year does allow for a lot more flexibility when drafting in September draft. I know myself, I was less worried about specific positions knowing that they could be swapped for other guys later if needed. I did enjoy the mid season draft though. Kind of on the fence with this one. Both have their benefits.

Not like you can't trade after the draft to try and fill out rosters tho.
Our rosters are pretty big, it would take a lot of injuries or a pretty terrible draft to be short at positions.
