Just a little question to verify the number of keepers for John heading into next season:

I think that is correct John. At the moment you have only three Farm Team eligible players. So, you could, if you were frisky trade for two more.

Question of the day:

To be farm team eligible, a skater must have played in less than how many NHL games? And a goalie?

I believe farm eligible skaters are those that have played 41 or less NHL games during the regular season.

Farm eligible goalies are those that have played 30 nor less NHL games during the regular season.

That's what I seem to remember us deciding.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't worry about trying to fill the prospect slots, particularly at big expense. You'll be able to fill them in the coming draft. Your total number of draft picks = the number of open slots on your team. Thus, if you did a trade and removed all of your prospects, you'd end up having some extra draft picks to replace the guys you traded. Now, that said, you might have trouble replacing them with the quality that you desired! I'm not sure if there are some samples of the previous drafts for you to look through on the website here somewhere. This would help you to 'rate' how players will be drafted.

Thanks SCOOP. I think this will be a learning season for me. I don't think too much of the prospects I have really ( I like Schenn). This will be the deapest Pool I've ever been in. Think I should get season tickets to the Guelph Storm this year and do some early research. And I will likely not do to much trading until I think I understand a little better how this will work. But it's going to be a blast I'm sure!

I think you are wise to hold off on the trading until you understand the league dynamics a little better. I'm guessing you have read through the League Manifesto and have paged through players on ESPN to get a sense for relative value. Even so, there are always nuances to value that are hard to pick up until you watch them during a regular season.

One of those nuances is that Desolation Row ALWAYS loses to the Fitzsy Stars. We may as well have written it right into the League Manifesto as the current record is 8-0.
